Volcanoes are a force of nature but thankfully, they're usually isolated and its highly unlikely that you'll get caught up in a pyroclastic (lava) flow. It's much more likely (although still vey unlikely!) that you'll be impacted by an ash cloud of some sort that's occasionally emitted when a volcano erupts.
Vulcanology is super interesting, but not really why you're here... how does travel insurance deal with a volcanic ash cloud?
We can look at this from two different perspectives:
- - those that have yet to leave on their trip, and
- - those who are already overseas.
